10th Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment
Our purpose as the 10th Virginia Infantry is to the represent the common infantry soldier from the Shenandoah Valley, in particular the counties of Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Page during the War for Southern Independence 1861-1865. We strive to educate the public, honor our ancestors and preserve historical sites and land. While we strive to meet these goals we do this with as much historical accuracy as possible. We are a campaign regiment, which means if they didn't have it, we don't either. We participate in living histories, preservation marches, re-enactments, ceromonies, parades and festivals. Our battalion affiliation is with the Independent Volunteer Rifles (IVR).
While it is not a requirement to be a descendant of the men that were in the original 10th Virginia to join, most of our members are and are from the Shenandoah Valley.
